Beachmere Sands Retirment Resort

GBG was contracted by People First to install the K.E.W.T. system at the Beachmere Sands Retirement Resort (north of Brisbane) which, when completed, will be the largest of its kind in Aust. Stage 1 is under construction with 123 units and by the end of the project there will be more than 1,400 units, community center, bowling green etc.

Instead of pumping the effluent more than 20km to the nearest STP, it is treated on site and approx. 40% of the treated effluent will be harvested and used to irrigate other areas of the complex. The K.E.W.T. system treats effluent to Class "C" which is well within the guidelines to recycle using sub surface drip. Using a simple "ultra violet" disinfection process, the effluent will be treated to Class "A" for above ground use.
If you stop and think about the process, it is entirely logical. Why pump waste 20km and then buy back recycled water to irrigate the complex when it can all be done on site for a fraction of the cost and it is all done in an environmentally responsible fashion.
